The face behind the posts and products 👋🏻

It’s about time I formally introduced myself, so here goes…

My name is Jess 🙋🏼‍♀️
But I’m usually called Jeff or Jeffrey at work (long story 😂) and I’m 28 years old (painfully close to 30 🥲)

I currently work at Vets4Pets in the West Midlands and I’m keen to develop my skills in Schedule 3 nursing, exotics and ECC once I’m qualified.

I love photography, particularly of wildlife and animals, and take lots of trips to Cannock Chase and Chester Zoo 📸 and I love to bake, which I have utilised many times for fundraising bake sales to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind 🐶

At the moment I have 4 pet bunnies, a tropical fish tank and two budgies 💚

I always knew I wanted to work with animals and initially studied Animal Management when I left school. My placement for this was in pet store and I ended up working with this company for 7 years working my way up the ranks. From livestock supervisor to deputy manager and eventually store manager 💪🏻

During this time I also completed my SQP training and became a C-SQP in 2016.

This was never what I wanted to do, and I’d always wanted to work within the veterinary industry, so I took the plunge and moved to my current employer as an Animal Care Assistant.

A year in and I was able to apply to do my nursing studies, which started in 2019. Im now super close to finishing which is all kinds of exciting and terrifying 😂 (You’re definitely never too old to change career paths or learn something new. So to anyone unsure whether to take the plunge; if it feels right, or it’s something you just can’t stop thinking about, then go for it!)

While doing my nursing studies I found that repetition work best for my revision, but I hated that I had to keep printing new work sheets each time; which is what lead me to create my magnetic revision tools as a more sustainable resource 💚

I also set up an Instagram page (@JessicaRoseTheSVN) when I started my nursing studies to document my progress and experiences. I never imagined I’d have over 1.5k of you following to see my journey. I’m very grateful for the support network this platform has provided me with, as well as speaking with so many wonderful people and allowing me to help others with their own studies and revision.

I have also recently set up a VNR Facebook page; @VetNursingResources. Here I will share product updates and helpful hint and tips for Veterinary Nurses that I pick up along the way, on my own Nursing journey.

If you ever have any questions, post requests or VNR product ideas please feel free to get in touch via the ‘Contact us’ page or at veterinarynursingresources@hotmail.com ☺️
My inbox is always open for anyone who needs it 💚
